LEARNING SUPPORT @ GRANTLEY COLLEGE
LEARNING SUPPORT @ GRANTLEY COLLEGE
Grantley College specializes in supporting learners with ADD / ADHD, Learning specific challenges in Language, Mathematics and Comprehension [Dyslexia, Dyscalculia and Dysgraphia] , as well as learners who struggle with social skills.
Small Group Support is enjoyed by Grade 8 and 9 learners on a weekly basis. Twice a week within the timetable they meet in small groups with specialist learning support staff for pre-teaching, reinforcement and learning skills support, in English, Afrikaans and Mathematics.
CRISP is a unique programme designed by Grantley College, to support reading and comprehension in High School.
Using various tools, CRISP builds vocabulary, develops reading with meaning and focuses on comprehension skills that can be transferred to all learning areas.
Whilst Junior Learning Support focuses on remediating and skills development, Senior Learning Support is content based, with learners receiving small group support in the critical areas of Language and Mathematics.
Seniors enjoy a “winter school” each year in which their exam skills are refreshed and they become “exam ready”.
The Grantley College Learning Support Team includes two qualified and experience Educational Psychologists who offer a variety of programmes to support our learners.
These programmes included:
- Individual Support Therapy
- Junior Transition Workshops
- Social Skills Workshops
- Parent Information Sessions – refer to our Learning Space Tab.
Our Accomodations Centre
Our Accomodations Centre
Grantley College offers student accommodations according to the determination of the DBE. All accommodation assistants are trained by the DBE and ready to support our children as scribes, readers, and prompters. Our fully equipped accommodation center means that each learner is able to have a separate venue. Grantley College has also invested in Exam Portal, which allows learners right up to Grade 12 to utilize a computer accommodation to type their exams, use voice-to-text technology, or have the computer read their exam to them.
